Recently Lost My Phone

The lost of my phone slowed me down a bit but I bounced back. Yep, it (my phone which I often use to blog) was stolen.

It time to go and sleep. I would resume blogging tomorrow. Cheers!

Sunny day, good day for photographing art for website

Just after a short afternoon nap, I tried to photograph my art for my website. Back in April, my computer system had a glitch that forced me to erase all its memory.

I am able to make better photographs if I use sunlight (instead of the artificial once indoors).

I just found out I can edit pics on my mobile phone.. So I don't need to depend on a computer as much as before.

Happy New Month of December!

Thanks God it is end of the month, it is time to write New Year Resolutions and time to prepare to spend (thereby going broke by January).

Online and in America, this holiday season is when retailers are giving out massive discount (in order to attract more customers). In my country (Nigeria), this is the period retailer INCREASE their prices (because people are going to shop anyway).

Most people live 'hand to month' or 'paycheck to paycheck' so end of month they have to make their kids happy by buying new Christmas-cloths for them, then perform a miracle by paying their children's school fee by January.

Anyway, Happy New Month of December 2012. Cheers!

Driving traffic to my website with dull cartoons

In order to drive 'traffic' to my website. I decided to start a lazy-blog dedicated to quick cartoon-sketches.

So, when a story is tending online (on Google); I would make a lazy sketch, capture it, and join those writing about it online... Thereby getting visitors (who visited the cartoon blog while searching for the Breaking News I sketch and published). That is what I mean by 'traffic'.

I don't intend to sell anything to those visitors, I just want more 'hits' to my art-website and my art-related-blogs (and may be provoke a few comment there on the cartoon blog).

The more visitors you have on your website, the better the 'ranking' of the website on Google Search Results. It is the top ranking websites that shows up as the first 10 result/website when you search, that means the lower ranking sites are almost invisible/hidden at the 'back-end' of the search result.

What do I mean by "lazy-sketches"?
Well, most of the drawings would take a total of 20 minutes to:
Sketch,
Photograph,
Edit & Capture (digital)
and finally upload (publish online). I is literally lazy like 'pu-pu-pu-pu' and I'm done.

Anyway, I would be featuring one dull cartoon occasionally on this blog. Nevertheless, if you so wish, you could visit www.dull-cartoon.blogspot.com (which is the blog that is exclusively dedicated to showing these Dull Cartoons and Caricature).

Thanks for visiting.

After 6 weeks break, behold a sketch.

On biro-sketch.blogspot.com today (29th November 2012), I ended my 6 weeks blogging 'strike' with a photo of a miniature figurative pen sketch http://biro-sketch.blogspot.com/2012/11/mini-sketch-of-female-figure.html

Until today, I haven't publish anything on the blog since October and this is due to the fact that I have been extremely busy. In fact, I nolonger answer my phone calls after 4pm. (because, it is mostly someone trying to encroach into my tight schedule, or one of my many fair-weather-friends trying to 'borrow' money they intend NOT to pay back).

I'm not only on a tight schedule, I am also on a tight budget...

So, the things I suppose to pay someone to do for me, I end up doing it myself because I can't afford the service of a hired professional. So, after closing from my days-job, I would still have a 'truck-load' of domestic works to complete.

Anyway, the above sketch was not made in my studio, but was actually drawn at my working place (office). To see the source of inspiration for this drawing, please follow this link: http://ifeka.blogspot.com/2009/09/good-good-laugh.html

Thanks for reading through. I had to publish this post quickly because my phone battery is low and would soon off. Cheers!

The endless possibilities in a single moment

How dynamic life is. It is only the experienced that truly understand
'the endless possibilities that are in a single moment'.

How one decision can just change the story of your entire life. How
one incident can 'make your day a lil longer'.

One thought can change the world, one thought can change the worlds...

Anyway, its November 2012, The calendar on my room wall was still
showing September (until this afternoon when I noticed it). Since the
year is coming to an end, I simply don't know what is left of my goals
to blog more this year... Let the past be the past, I INTEND TO GO
BACK TO SCHOOL (improve my English) AND ALSO BLOG ONCE EVERYDAY...
THAT IS DEFIANTLY GOING TO CHANGE MY REALITY?

It is a 'action = reaction' thing. You can do something that affects
your reality, or you can do nothing (and still your reality is
affected in a different way by your lack of action).

My decision to go South
has affected my life in a Southern way.
My decision to go North
has affected my life in a Northern way.
My decision to go West
has influenced my life in a Western way.
My decision to go South
well, I don't have to repeat this again!? So with the southeast,
southwest, northeast, and so on.

Thanks for reading through. Check back again tomorrow and (God's
willing) I would publish a new post about what's happening in and
around the studio.

I'm STILL;

Ballpoint Pen Drawing - Art Movement & Artist

This is the pen sketch of the week. To see many picture of me drawing with a pen, please visit my other blog dedicated to this type of medium. It's at www.biro-sketch.blogspot.com

Drawing with a pen/ink has become an art-movement in the eyes of most ballpen-artist. So, If that is true, then I am also (in one way or the other) a part of 'Art History' because, It all started in the same century (100 years).

They are some people who are trying to 'cave a name for themselves' by editing Wikipidia pages of 'Ballpoint Pen Art' (inserting themselves)... We are in the *information/digital age*. If anyone is really interested in "Ballpoint Pen Art History And It's Origin", that person would search well and beyond Wikipidia.

We all know that if civilisation continues the way its going, hard-copy textbooks might go extinct... YEAH, JUST LIKE PHYSICAL ART MIGHT ONE DAY BE AS HISTORICAL AS AN OLD BENIN BRASS HEAD.

Nowadays, ordinary amateur YouTube video are capable of inciting an international uprising (that refuse to die off). An oblivious individual is able to build a website that MIGHT get a million hit (yes, it rarely happens).

We are in a age where (for example); you read an article that say smoking is unhealthy and another one pointing out the benefits of smoking (and when I say smoking I am talking about pot)

Just for the records, I know ballpoint pen would "live on" but just like anyother type of mediun like pencil.

Thanks you reading, please remember that the website is www.biro-sketch.blogspot.com
Have a Great Tuesday!

quitting blogging about art

Sometimes I ask myself; 'Am I dreaming? How can I ever wake up from my
dreams of selling my art online (as a Nigerian). Should I quite
blogging or should I intensify my effort?'

Then I find one of those blog posts where the author says something liker: "failour only happens when you quit"

Quitting isn't an option right now.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of
persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more
common than unsuccessful people with
talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is
almost a proverb. Education will not; the
world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence
and determination alone are omnipotent. The
slogan "press on" has solved and always will
solve the problems of the human race" -

Tools for making collage art (photo)

11days ago, I published a blog about my plans to make the largest collage I have ever made. {http://biro-sketch.blogspot.com/2012/08/getting-read-to-make-large-collage.html}.
Anyway, I haven't find the time to start (after-all, "Rome didn't burn in a day") but I intend to spend the rest of the day in the studio.

The above photo shows all the tools needed for the work (although, I would add some more 'cut-out little pieces of paper'). It is estimated that four thousand Little pieces of papers would be used to cover that cardboard).

Those little cut-out pieces of paper (as showed in the above picture), are actually part of some of my 'failed-painting attempts'. So I don't waste the used materials for the painting. Anyway, the last stage is to assemble the cut-out papers together in an orderly manner.

Thanks for visiting, I would upload the 'finished' work by Wednesday.

Getting ready to make a large collage artwork

I'm preparing to make the largest collage-art I have ever made in my life. It is just about one inch longer than its predecessor. Until now, the largest collage I have ever made was titled 'G-is-for-Jesus' and it was sold 4 years after her creation.

The size of the average cardboard paper (as sold in a book shop or art-supply-shop) is approximately 20.4 x 25.0 inches and I plan on making a 30 inches collage so I have to improvise (a way to attach 3 cardboard paper for the back).

The above photos are pictures of the job at different stages.

At the time I started the work, their was no light (electrical power supply) but currently, we have seen great improvement with the power supply (over here in Nigeria, West Africa). Funny because, just a few weeks ago, I published a blogs-post about the epileptic power supply at {www.biro-sketch.blogspot.com/2012/07/burning-midnight-candle.html}. May be the improvement might be due to Ramadan fasting.

If i can organise my time, this would be 'completed' in about a week from now but, I doubt if that is possible (because I am too busy at work, and when I close from work, I am usually too busy sleeping or doing some domestic or academic work)... So I forecast that the work would be done in about 2 weeks from now.

The next stage of the artwork would be to cut out the little pieces of paper that I would later glue together to form a collage artwork...
I am kind of excited about this particular artwork.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Planning on renewing the expired studio website

Recently, I got paid my allowances. Currently am at work but, as soon as 2pm reaches, I would rush to the bank to pay for the renewal of my studio website {tugis.com.ng}

Twitter's Hashtag #tugis

Recently, I had the audacity to use the hashtag #tugis on almost all my twitter updates.

The purpose of using the hashtag #tugis was to associate the tag #tugis with the hashtag #art.

So, when a twitter user is searching for #art, he might notice that one of the displayed-result has an hashtag '#tugis' alongside '#art'. This might ignite his curiosity making him to search for the meaning of the hashtag #tugis.

Not quite a very smart idea (since too many people uses #art in their twitts).

My Lackadaisical Attitude Towards Blogging About My Art

If you observe the above image, you might be wondering why an artist (or blogger for that matter) only published one blog-post in a whole year.

I only made one blog-post in the year 2010 and 2011. In those years, I was attending university (living a very hard life in the school-village).

Just about every lazy artist I know are always 'armed' with an excuse why they 'could not'. My failure to blog doesn't mean I didn't make any artwork during those period. I was able to make a few but, I didn't have the means or time to publish them online.

I think every artist at one point in their life suffered from procrastination. Even Leonardo Da Vince was a great procrastinator... To get back on track, I might have to buy that Brian Tracy's book 'Eat That Frog' again (I alway lost the book).

As you can see, I am 'grammatically-challenged' so that's another reason why I postpone blogging BUT, this year; things must change.

The best time to start is... NOW!

Thanks for reading

Expiration of the studio website

Well, my studio website {tugis.com.ng} expires on the 26th June 2012 (yesterday). I don't know why the web-hosting company still display it.

I might renew it (before someone else takes the domain name) but I might abandon it and concentrate on my personal website www.ifekaterry.com.

Reasons, well, I'm broke to the bones LOL!

When I can't get something, I dispise the thing (as if I don't need it), then; I do not miss it (because I'm now better off without it).

The website has been around for over 3 years now, and I quickly designed if (from a blank page) within 2 hours. So, I have not invested too much time on it (Time is money. That is why we spend it) and right now, I meither have the time nor the money to maintain the dame thing.

Computer Glitch ~ Hindrance To Blogging

An unfortunate incident happened recently.

While my computer was shutting-down, the POWER went out (I live in Africa so electricity supply is unstable).

This caused my computer-system to crash. I tried to restore it but it did not work. The only option left was to format it (wipe clean the memory).

So I have lost some important documents including;
¤ Manuscripts for my updated websites (hours of re-design/template, photographic works, editing & write-ups),
¤ Irreplaceable pictures
¤ ebooks,
¤ PDF files
¤ and a few MP3
It was frustrating and painful because, it took me years to have those collections.

I'm almost depressed but not as bad as April 2011 when some bandits stole my notebook (mini laptop). I have been using an old fashion desktop + mobile phone ever since.

Tomorrow, I'm going to an internet cafe to download a lot of softwares set-up on my flash-drive. I need them to properlly use my system again.
